Avi Savar, CEO of Big Fuel on Fox News

MYFOXNY.COM – After being maligned for complex privacy controls and user data being shared without users knowing about it, social networking site Facebook has announced it is rolling out new privacy features.

In outlining the changes on Wednesday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged, “A lot of people are upset with us.”

While Facebook allowed users to hide their list of interests on their personal profile pages, the user would still show up elsewhere as “liking” something.  The company also started sharing user data with partner sites like Microsoft Docs.com, Pandora, and Yelp automatically unless a user opted out of sharing the information.

Upset users started threatening to leave Facebook and some boycotts were organzied.

Zuckerberg says that it will take about a week for the new privacy settings to be completely rolled out across the site.
