Instagram took to their blog to announce that they will be rolling out a new feature that displays user profiles on the web. That’s right, IGers will now be able to view, share and engage with Instagram in a beautiful and interactive new way.
A mix between Facebook and Pinterest profiles, the new Instagram profile on the web features a banner photo similar to that on Facebook, behind a smaller profile photo. Below, Instagram photos are displayed similar to Pinterest pins. Take a peek at Nike’s new Instagram web profile here: http://instagram.com/nike
Web profiles aren’t up and running for everyone yet, but here’s what we’ve learned so far:
- Web profiles provide an easy way to follow other users, comment and like photos, and edit your profile directly from the web.
- Web profiles give users a simple way to share photos with more people and make it easier to discover new users on the web.
- All photos shared to Instagram will be included in a user’s web profile.
- Web Profiles will make it easier to browse and share content on the web for all users.
To launch Instagram on the web, whether it’s to see your profile or simply explore others, go to instagram.com/[username]. Can’t see it yet? Don’t fret. Web profiles will launch to all Instagram users in the next week or so.
