Are Moms making a difference in our world with their blogs?

I work for a social media agency, but I’m also a Mom blogger and a twitter Mom. Every day I meet new Moms and learn more about the amazing things Moms are accomplishing for their families, their neighborhoods, communities and the world at large. Mom bloggers are having increased impact on corporations and the brands and products they sell. Many have enlisted Mom panels as advisors, hired them as Chief Mom Officers and are attending Mom conferences to gain their insights and invite them into their inner circles. These are not Moms scrapbooking and posting photos, but Moms on a mission armed with technology and a voice. Many have been recognized through different “Top Mom” lists. Moms have passed cupcakes, shaved their heads, sold cookies and run marathons all in the spirit of raising awareness and money for causes they believe in.

As evidence of their strength of purpose, announced their finalists in the First Annual Awards. Blogsanthropy is a non-profit organization that together with Child’s Play Communications, is marrying social media with the idea of corporate giving. Their mission is to recognize and reward bloggers who are making a difference by promoting various causes through the use of social media. P&G’s “Give Health” program is the first inaugural sponsor.

The five 2010 Bloganthropy Award finalists are:
